You may have heard in the news or seen articles on Facebook about Typhoon Tino which made its' way across the central part of the Philippines on November 3. This typhoon was not particularly strong, but the rain this storm brought wreaked havoc on Lilo-an, Consolacion, Mandaue, Talisay, and Toledo as five (5) rivers overflowed their banks in the early morning hours. The flood waters rose in minutes washing out homes, reaching to the second floor and in some communities to the rooftops of second story homes. Taking people completely unaware, as this kind of flood had never happened before, many people were able to climb onto their roofs to await rescue. Over 100 lives were lost.
